This website, nicholasroofandwash.ie, is run by Valeriu Viziru, trading as Nicholas Roofing & Power Washing, a sole trader based in Ireland ("we", "us"). We take your privacy seriously and we keep things simple: we only collect the information we need to give you a quote and do the job, and we never sell it to anyone.

What we collect

When you use the quote form on this site, we collect the details you type in: your name, your phone number, the service you are interested in, and anything you write about the job.

If you contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email instead, we receive whatever details you choose to share with us that way, such as your number, your message and any photos of the job you send.

Like almost every website, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, also processes standard technical data such as your IP address in its server and security logs, to keep the site fast and protected from abuse.

Why we collect it

We use your details for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry, prepare your quote and, if you go ahead, to arrange and carry out the work. In legal terms, this processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and to perform that contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Keeping basic technical logs is based on our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We do not send newsletters and we do not make any automated decisions about you. The details you send us — your name, your number, your message — are never shared with advertising platforms. We do advertise on Google, and if you agree to cookies we measure which adverts lead to a real enquiry; that measurement is explained under Cookies below.

Photos of our work

We sometimes photograph a job before and after the work, for our records and to show the quality of what we do. We ask for your permission before publishing any photo of your property, and photos never include people, vehicle registrations or house numbers.

Who handles your data for us

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site and our email:

• Formspark receives and stores the quote form submissions and delivers them to our email. Formspark is operated from Belgium and stores this data within the EU, in Ireland.
• Cloudflare hosts and protects this website and processes technical data such as IP addresses in its logs.
• Google Workspace provides our business email, so messages you send to info@nicholasroofandwash.ie are stored in that service.
• WhatsApp (Meta) handles messages only if you choose to contact us that way, under its own privacy policy.
• Google Ireland receives measurement data from our advertising cookies, and only if you agree to them. It is told that an enquiry happened, never what you typed into the quote form.
• Cookiebot (Usercentrics, Denmark) records your cookie choice so that we can demonstrate consent was given, as the law requires. The record is stored against a random identifier, not your name.
• Where business records such as invoices require it, our accountant may also see the details on those records.

These providers act on our behalf and cannot use your details for their own purposes, except where you contact us through their platform directly (such as WhatsApp). Cloudflare and Google are US companies; where data is transferred outside the EU, the transfer is protected by recognised safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or EU standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We do not keep a customer database or any marketing lists. Your details live only in our email and messages for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry. If the enquiry does not turn into a job, we delete them within 12 months. Where a job produces business records such as invoices, we keep those for up to 6 years, because Irish tax law requires business records to be kept for that period.

Cookies

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from malicious traffic. Cookies of this kind are exempt from consent requirements and store nothing about you personally.

We also advertise on Google. Advertising and analytics cookies let us see which adverts lead to a real enquiry, so we are not paying for clicks that go nowhere. These are only ever set if you agree to them: nothing is loaded until you choose, and choosing to deny means they are never set at all.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of any page or the links just below. Withdrawing is as easy as agreeing, and nothing on the site stops working either way. Before you agree to anything, the "Details" view in the cookie banner lists every cookie we use, what each one is for and how long it lasts.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, just email us at info@nicholasroofandwash.ie and we will sort it out, normally within a month.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Children

Our services and this website are aimed at adults arranging work on their property, not at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
